Scomi Group Q3 results..... BAD !

Phew..., luckily didn't hold Scomi last week. I bought at 39.5 on Tuesday when market down, and sold it 40.5 on Thursday. Profit of a few ringgit. Initially, felt upset after selling but relief now.

The following are some highlight of the report,

Scomi Group Bhd's Q3 result which ended Sept'30 was not a pretty one, it was reported a net losses of RM166.48 million, compared to the net profit of RM22.97 million a year ago.

The company explained the losses were caused by lower revenue from core business and also there was a potential impairment which costs about RM52.6 million and a provision of RM109.7 million.

Turnover was down from last year's RM448.5 million to RM367.6 million. Major contributors are from oilfield services division and transport solutions division.

Loss per share was RM0.1199 compared with earnings per share of RM0.027.

Sunway Holdings + SunCity = Sunway Sdn Bhd

Sunway Holdings to be merged with SunCity.

MERGER is like a trend in Bursa Malaysia now. This is the third merger involving property related company. Before that, there are two merger between UEM Land and Sunrise, then followed by IJM Land and MRCB on Tuesday.

These third merger involving two company controlled by Tan Sri Jeffrey Cheah, there are Sunway Holdings Bhd, a construction company, and Sunway City Bhd (SunCity), a propery company and the deal worth RM4.5 billion.

Currently, Cheah is holding 46% of Sunway Holdings Bhd and 44% of SunCity. After the merger, he will hold about 44% of the new company.

Both company assets and liabilities will be acquired by a newly formed company, Sunway Sdn Bhd. After merger, Sunway Sdn Bhd will become the fourth largest property company by market size.

The new company is expected to be listed on Bursa Malaysia by middle of next year.

Sunway Sdn Bhd will be paying RM2.60 for each Sunway Holdings Bhd share and RM5.10
for each SunCity share.

Sunway will also pay RM900 million cash and Sunway shares with free warrants attached.
Both company will also undertake a capital repayment exercise to shareholders after the purchase.

If North Korea didn't bomb South Korea...

Imagine if North Korea didn't bomb South Korea yesterday, PANTECH may be closed at a higher price, could be 0.95 or above.

Another counter, MPHB with net profit up 70%, sure will shoot up to above 2.25 or 2.30 or even higher.

Now, haiiiiiiii..........

This shows timing is also crucial on investment, if the bombing occured one day later. For sure, both counters will go higher than yesterday closed. Who knows, I could be few hundreds or even thousand ringgit
richer.

I am still thinking what type of risk is this? Timing risk? Political risk? or Unnecessary risk?

Probably we could labeled it as a 'silly risk', because of their silly act which cause hardship to innocent people.

Too bad, those who killed, injured and having property damaged are the one who suffered.

Lets pray this issue will not escalate further and ended in a peaceful manner.

By the way, yesterday market down was not mainly due to Korean bombing, it also related to Ireland debts. Anyway markets are looking for reasons to sell-off for last few weeks' gain.

PANTECH Sold !

Sold all my PANTECH shares of 8800 units today at RM0.93.

Why sell and not to exercise the bonus issue? A good question, I have been thinking about these for long time.

Struggling hard to come up this decision to sell. Not easy to make because PANTECH is a good counter to hold and also provide me good return all this time.

There are three reasons why sell,

1) Take profits before ex-date. Hopefully, this is right time to take profits.

2) Will buy back again if the price is right for me, and also the company perform well.

3) Get back my capital for other investments or swap to another counter. There are a few good counters to buy. Getting back capital is my main reason to sell PANTECH, too much money in shares market is not healthy.

Am I making a right decision? I don't know, time will tell.

PANTECH will always under my radar, hope to buy it again with an attractive price and make money from it again and again.


This is a good stock, no harm done to keep close watch on it.

Paris ! AirAsia X next new destination !

Good news from AirAsia X, after London, Australia, Japan, Korea and now Paris !

For those who doesn't know where is Paris, it is France capital. A romantic city !

This is the second European destination after London.

AirAsia's long-haul low fare affiliate AirAsia X will be flying to Paris with all in fare from as low as RM499 (one way) from Kuala Lumpur to Paris from Feb,14 next year onward.

AirAsia issued a statement on Thursday, 18 Nov "AirAsia X said flights for the special offer were available for booking online from Nov 22 to 24, 2010 for the four times weekly direct flights which will commence on Feb 14, 2011 between Paris-Orly International Airport and Kuala Lumpur International Airport's Low Cost Carrier Terminal."


Travel period for the special fare is from Feb 14 to Nov 10, 2011, it said.

Wonder which is their third city in Europe ? Madrid will be fantastic, it will be cheaper to watch Real Madrid live in their stadium.

Why SCOMI active on KLSE?

Scomi Group Bhd was among the most active counters on KLSE last two days.

There are news surfaced, there could be new substantial shareholders from Indonesia investors
and Middle East funds.

There are accumulating Scomi shares on the open market for sometime now. The shares could be
from Kaspadu Sdn Bhd, which has been disposing on the open market.

Kaspadu Sdn Bhd is belongs to Datuk Kamaluddin Abdullah and his partner Shah Hakim.

Lately, Scomi quarter financial results has not been encouraging.

Scomi Group said that, “operationally, the decrease was mainly attributable to lower revenue achieved by the transport solutions division and cost revisions resulting in an increase in the estimated costs to completion and reduction in the attributable profit of the monorail project”.

Negative months for shares market

August - October are the negative months for stock market.

In the past three decades of the KLCI memory, the 3Q of the year had typically been the weakest.

Sept and Oct is also known as historical crash-prone period.

That is why some investors shun the market from Aug to Oct.

Month-to-month returns from 1977 to 2009 show that the months with the highest risk are the worst performing. In these 32 years on month-to-month returns, there are a common trend for KLSE, Dow and Hang Seng indices.

All three markets are weak in the Aug to Oct months.

For that reason, investors are recommended to "SELL" over this period and "BUY" in December.

The Oct has been touted as a negative month, more so because many of the global negative events in the past, took place during these months.

Fortunately, Oct'10 has been good to shares market. There are no negative event happen this year, so will the market continue to climb and the bull exist until Chinese New Year?
