Why DUTALAND down?

DutaLand Berhad shares price falls, it was down 7 cents to close at RM0.54.

The reason behind the drop was due to news saying IOI Corporation Berhad has terminated its proposed acquisition of almost 12,000 ha of oil palm plantation land from DutaLand Berhad. The deal costs RM830mil and was located in Sabah.

According to IOI Corporation Berhad, the cancellation was "due to non-compliance of certain terms and conditions". However, DutaLand Bhd has rejected the reasons for the cancellation of the deal.

If the deal is off, IOI Corp Bhd could lose a RM83 million deposit to Dutaland Bhd.

Even with the lost of RM83mil, the impact will be minimal to IOI's earning because IOI is a cash-rich company with profits of multi-billion Ringgit per year.

DutaLand Berhad is mainly involved in oil palm plantations, property development and property investments.

Why JCY up for last few days?

The flooding in Thailand have benefited JCY International Bhd, as its share price chalked up impressive gains from last few days of trading.

The floods causing most of its competitors' factory being shut down their operations, these could created more demand for the company.

The company factory in Thailand are located in the high-ground area of Saraburi but 70% of JCY's capacity are coming from its factory in Johor Baru.

These severed flooding in Thailand has causing two largest hard disk drive manufacturers Western Digital and Seagate Technology to shut down the factory operation there.

This is the most impressive run for the share price after its IPO last year but it was way behind IPO price of RM1.60.

Will KLCI is going down today?

The day started with rain in the early morning and turn on my PC and saw Dow Jone down, don't worry  just a mild drop, a 16 points down.

For KLSE, after four straight days of gain, it is time to take break and regroup for further climb.

Right now, there are some resolution for European crisis, hopefully it will solve it for long term. With euro settling down, the arrow now pointing back to US. Are we going to see some really bad news from them, hard to predict.

The third quarter result are coming out now, we shall see how the company performed. Be prepare for the worst.

Hope there will be good news from big company. Otherwise there may drag down the market again.

Fingers crossed !

Market climb higher

KLCI up 14 points to close at 1,411. The market gone up in-line with the higher overnight close at Dow Jones and also major European markets.

In fact, it was the fourth consecutive days market has gone up.

The market is in the positive side as news that Germany and France are coming up with a resolution by the end of the month to resolve the euro zone debt crisis and also rescue the Europe region's struggling financials.

A move to nationalize Franco-Belgian bank Dexia was seen as an encouraging step taken by the government to help to fight the crisis.

This was also help by the oversold level from last month sell-off.

Sime Darby share played catch-up in the afternoon session after resumed trading from morning session suspension. It was closed at RM8.50 up 0.10.

Is my Budget 2012 wish list materialised ?

Is my 8 wish list being answered in Budget 2012?

1) Personal tax cut,
- Increased the individual tax rebate from RM35,000 to RM50,000 for the entitlement of RM400 deduction,

PM's Budget: No, not in the Budget 2012.

- Government should also increase the Insurance+KWSP limit from existing RM6,000 to RM8,000 or more. Indirectly it will encourage rakyat to save money by buying more insurances for themself.

PM's Budget: Yes, it is in the Budget 2012.

- Increased the individual relief from RM9,000 to RM11,000

PM's Budget: No, not in the Budget 2012.

2) Lower tax to car, so rakyat can afford to buy cheap car, this is in-line with the oil subsidy is being reduced periodically.

PM's Budget: Yes, only for hybrid car. Better than nothing.

3) To increase the retirement age from current 55 to 60 but retain the optional retirement age of 50.

PM's Budget: Yes, it is in the Budget 2012 BUT only applicable for civil servant.

4) To increase the Employer EPF contribution for employee from 12% to 15%. Therefore saving more for rakyat before retired.

PM's Budget: Yes, it is in the Budget 2012 BUT only applicable income-earner not more than RM5,000.

5) Remove 6% service charge incurred by Astro to rakyat. There should incur this charge only to business outlet instead of rakyat.

PM's Budget: No, not in the Budget 2012.

6) Government should seriously look into the public transport system. If we have a good public transport system, definitely it will help rakyat to reduce transportation burden. Indirectly rakyat don't have to fork out lots of money to buy car and also reduce fatality on the road.

PM's Budget: Yes, it is in the Budget 2012.

7) To help poor to reduce their daily burden, government may consider to introduce a 'food for poor' system. To provide subsidy or free food for the poor.

PM's Budget: Yes, it is in the Budget 2012.

8) To encourage rakyat to read more, government should reduce the import tax for books.

PM's Budget: Yes, it is in the Budget 2012.

Not bad, at least some of them are being tabled in the budget. This is definitely an election budget, a lot of money being poured into Rakyat pockets especially low income-earners.

General Election is not far away..............

My 8 wish list for Budget 2012

Tomorrow PM Najib will table his third budget in his career as PM of Malaysia.

This is going to be a rakyat friendly budget (oh well, they always used this term before budget being table) but mostly are disappointed or not many benefit to rakyat.

For budget 2012, I would like to see

1) Personal tax cut,
- Increased the individual tax rebate from RM35,000 to RM50,000 for the entitlement of RM400 deduction,
- Government should also increase the Insurance+KWSP limit from existing RM6,000 to RM8,000 or more. Indirectly it will encourage rakyat to save money by buying more insurances for themself.
- Increased the individual relief from RM9,000 to RM11,000

2) Lower tax to car, so rakyat can afford to buy cheap car, this is in-line with the oil subsidy is being reduced periodically.

3) To increase the retirement age from current 55 to 60 but retain the optional retirement age of 50.

4) To increase the Employer EPF contribution for employee from 12% to 15%. Therefore saving more for rakyat before retired.

5) Remove 6% service charge incurred by Astro to rakyat. There should incur this charge only to business outlet instead of rakyat.

6) Government should seriously look into the public transport system. If we have a good public transport system, definitely it will help rakyat to reduce transportation burden. Indirectly rakyat don't have to fork out lots of money to buy car and also reduce fatality on the road.

7) To help poor to reduce their daily burden, government may consider to introduce a 'food for poor' system. To provide subsidy or free food for the poor.

8) To encourage rakyat to read more, government should reduce the import tax for books.

Hopefully some of them already in PM budget list.

The launching date for iPhone 5

Apple fans will be excited as Apple Inc. will be unveiling its new iPhone soon, probably on Tuesday.

This will be the first major product being launch by new Apple CEO, Tim Cook. Who took over Steve Jobs in August.

A new iPhone is expected to have a number of changes, on software side it will include the Apple's latest iOS mobile software, iOS 5. May be iCould service will be included in this new iPhone.

On the hardware side, it is not going to look much different from the iPhone 4 but it could be thinner and have a bigger screen.

An improved rear camera is anticipated, too. The existing iPhone has a 5-megapixel camera on its rear. Most probably a 8-megapixel camera will be replacing the existing one.

One of the most notable hardware changes many industry watchers are predicting is the inclusion of a more powerful chip: Apple's dual-core A5 processor, which is the same chip it uses in its current iPad. The iPhone 4 runs on Apple's older A4 chip, and the move to a more capable chip should improve things such as multitasking, opening apps and gaming.

Just wait for the launch to see what is the different.

What do you expect on KLCI today?

Dow dropped another 258 points and European major markets also down hard yesterday.

Greece was the reason, same old story..... market fear Greek will default. As Greece said there won't be able to reduce its budget deficits as much as it had agreed to as part of a deal to receive more emergency loans.

As usual when these news being announced, market just collapsed. Any slight bad news from these country will scare the investors away.

Markets are worried Greece will be the next Lehman Brothers in 2008.

Oh well, another red red day awaiting KLCI !
